Emerging From the Cloud of Unknowing

Working on a Master’s Degree in Theology confonted me with a myriad of lfe experiences. Some were excellent. For instance I met my future wife there. Some were practical, I learned to drive a New Y ork City, Manhatten Taxi, and others were simply confounding, such as reading that mystical book “The Cloud of Unknowing” by anonymous. I’ve kept my wife (and/or she has kept me), I have learned new things, forgotten much, but “The Cloud of Unknowing” keeps breaking into my consciousness as it has for the 37 years after my seminary “Experience”. I see that cloud engulfing the beloved Episcopal Church and its elder’s, the  Anglican Communion. I see it engulfing the major branches of Christianity, some so much that one can barely identify their behavior being consistent with the worship taught by the Holy Spirit to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and passed down to the little Jesus who taught in the Temple, and I see it in all branches of the Christian Vine today. Yet, I feel called to sound the Ram’s Horn in that Cloud of Unknowing, summoning the created to seek once again their timeless and all powerful creator.

This work, and hopefully your engagement with me, will seek to move through that Cloud of Unknowning so that we emerge, not cloudy in our thinking nor in our behavior, but unified in whom we believe Jesus to be, in whom we believe the Creator to be, and in whom we believe the Holy Spirit, whom enlightens us, is.

This is not a place to speak of denominations or denominationalism, nor is it a place to joust with doctrinal theories and superstructure. Simply an exercise of studying Scripture, History, Revelations and Experiences for the purpose of Glorifying God and finding Him in His Creation.
